Cleo Orthel Christensen died Jan. 18, 2015, in Lakeside. She was born May 29, 1912, near Apache, Okla., to Guy Earl Moore and Jessie (Caddel) Moore.

Cleo married Victor Christensen Dec. 23, 1931. He preceded her in death in 1995, and she lived alone until she was no longer able to care for herself.

The marriage produced two daughters, Gailya and Sandy, and two sons, Gary and Jimmy. They lived in the Boone community in Oklahoma until they moved to Socorro, N.M., in 1954, then later to Reserve, N.M., in 1957, rearing two of their children in Reserve.

Cleo was foremost a loving wife and mother, but being industrious she also periodically took jobs out of the household. She was an excellent seamstress and cook and utilized those two assets to help the family financially.

In Socorro, she was a cook at the hospital and later worked as a seamstress. In Reserve, she ran a motel and later became assistant postmaster. She always had a garden and canned many things. She learned to knit and paint landscapes and enjoyed doing crafts.

Cleo was with the original group that did quilting and potluck dinners, working toward getting a senior citizen center in Reserve. She was an active member of the Reserve Baptist Church.

Cleo is survived by her children, Gailya (Christensen) Perry of Reserve, N.M.; Gary V. (Pat) Christensen of Springerville, AZ; Jim G. (Myrna) Christensen of Reserve, N.M.; and Sandy Christensen (Mike) Walters of Los Alamos, N.M.; 14 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Soren Christensen & grandsons; Carl W. Christensen and Ricky D. Roberts; and great-grandson, Garrett Cunnington.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at the Reserve Baptist Church in Reserve, N.M., with visitation one hour prior.

Interment will follow the services at the Reserve, N.M., Cemetery. There will be refreshments after the services at the Community Center in Reserve.
