LIFE LONG RESIDENT OF COUNTY IS DEAD

Mrs. Minerva Hey Died At Home in Shelby Township This Afternoon

Mrs. Minerva (Maple) Hey, sixty-nine years old, one of the well-known and highly esteemed women of the county, wife of Peter Hey, died at their home in Shelby township, one and half miles northwest of Fenns, this afternoon at one-thirty o'clock, from dropsy. She had been suffering for the past two months from the terrible disease and the end did not come unexpectedly to her relatives and many friends, as she had been lying in a critical condition for the past week.

Mrs. Hey was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Maple of this county, and her entire life had been spent in the township in which she lived when the death angel called her away. She was one of the best known women in the southern part of the county and was loved and esteemed by all her acquaintances for her many good traits of character. She was a good christian woman and could always be found at the bedside of a sick friend or ready to help any one who was in need. The news of the death will bring sadness to many homes.

In 1872, deceased was married to Mr. Hey and their life together had been a most happy one. Ten children were born to bless the union, all of whom survive with their father. She was a loving mother and a devoted wife and the grief-stricken family will have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire county in their great bereavement.

The children who survive with the husband are seven boys and three girls. The sons are William, John W., George W., Thomas H., and Daniel at home; Charles F., of Noble township; David, of Shelby township, and the daughters are Mrs. Delman Clark, of Washington township and Mrs. Alvin Ray and Mrs. Oscar Smith, of Shelby township. Deceased is also survived by three brothers --- William Maple, of this city; David Maple, of White county, and Melvin Maple, of Howard county, and one sister, Mrs. John Plunkett, of the state of Washington.

The funeral arrangements had not been made at time for press and will be announced later by Hageman & Hendrickson.
