Joshua Timothy Henderson was called to go home to the arms of Jesus on Saturday, January 17th 2015. His sudden departure left a huge gap in our hearts, as he was so filled with a spirit of love and adventure, of daring and challenge. His nature was a volatile mixture of adrenaline, gasoline, gunpowder and a cocky, mischievous grin. At such a young age he was a man for his time: courageous and always ready for action, fierce in his defense of his loved ones, brutally honest, but compassionate for those who needed it. He had become a man apart.

He left Madison High School in this his senior year to pursue an online degree, and had worked beside his father everyday doing carpentry and masonry, learning the real life applications of geometry and higher mathematics, listening to stories of American history, receiving Bible lessons and a political education from Rush Limbaugh.

He was a most excellent marksman and an accomplished hunter and woodsman, taking his first buck at age 12. He had recently announced his decision to join the US military as a soldier, hoping to become a sniper. After that he was to attend college to learn motorcycle mechanics, and hoped to join a professional motocross racing team. He was an avid motocross racer.

He had planned to petition to join French Broad Masonic Lodge after his upcoming 18th birthday, joining his father and older brother before him. He already had many masonic friends all eager to sponsor him.

Above all he was a Christian, learning to walk the path Jesus laid out for him. He acquired his honesty and fearlessness by knowing that his ultimate destination was heaven. He had given his life to Christ at the age of 10, followed Him in baptism, and was growing spiritually every day. Whatever he accomplished, whomever he touched, and whatever he learned, God, being the ultimate teacher, determined it was time for him to graduate. Blessed be His Holy Name!

He is survived by his father John Michael Henderson of Hot Springs, his mother Crystal Burch Brank and "Extra-Dad" Darrell Brank, both of Weaverville, Rebekah Johannah (sister) and Kristopher George Collins of Mars Hill, Christian Faith Henderson of Weaverville, John Caleb Henderson (brother) of Hot Springs, and Allyson Bailey Brank (baby sister) and "extra brother" Travis Wayne "Bubb" Grimes both of Weaverville, Papaw John Nelson and Mamaw Rosa Mann Henderson of Morrow Ga, and countless extended family and friends who will cherish his memory fondly forever.

He is preceded in death by his Grandpa Bela and Grandma Janice Ledford Bartok of Hot Springs.

The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Hot Springs First Baptist Church on Saturday, January 24th, the Church where Joshua committed to live his life for Jesus Christ and followed Him in baptism. A memorial service will follow directly.

Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, where he will rest beside his beloved Grandma and Grandpa to await that resurrection morning.
