Jason Hale "Jay" Young 89, of Bowling Green passed away Wednesday at his residence with his daughter and grandson at his bedside. Jay was born October 26, 1925 in Riverside, KY. He was preceded in death by his wife Joan Farley Young, his parents Karl and Hettye Whittaker Young. Also three brother-in-laws Rex Allred, Boyce White and Darrel Herrington and sister-in-law Connie Young.

Jay was a farmer, retired electrician and member of Local 369 in Louisville, KY. He was a member of Riverside Christian Church, Elijah Upton Masonic Lodge F. & A. M. in Richardsville and veteran of U. S. Army/Air Force having served in WW II. While serving in the military Jay was awarded Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 9 Bronze Stars, Phillipine Liberation, Good Conduct Ribbon , Air Medal with 3 Bronze Stars and the Victory Medal.

Jay over his life was a hard worker and provided for his family. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and a true friend to all who knew him.

Survivors include his daughter Linda Jo Young of Bowling Green and a special wonderful grandson Farley Jay Young also of Bowling Green. Two sisters Mavis Allred of Indianapolis, IN and Dixie Herrington of Bowling Green, one brother Weldon Young of Bowling Green, very dear friend Thelma Elkin of Bowling Green and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Sunday January 25, 2015 at 2:00 pm at J. C. Kirby and Son Lovers Lane Chapel. Visitation will be Saturday 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home, with a Masonic Service at 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Plano Baptist Church Cemetery.
