Linda Wallenfelsz Compton, 74, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully departed this life Tuesday, March 19, 2013, in Ruston, LA. Mrs. Compton was born in Ironton, OH, on May 28, 1938. Her family moved to Ashland, KY, when she was four. It was there she met and married Phillip Douglas Compton. In 1968, the Comptons moved to Baton Rouge, LA, where they became members of Parkview Baptist Church. Mrs. Compton lived there until 2010 when she moved to Alpine Guest Care in Ruston, LA, after suffering a severe stroke. A lover of the outdoors and of music, she enjoyed playing the piano, reading, and traveling the world with her husband. She had a great sense of humor and loved spending time with friends and family, particularly with her grandchildren who were a great joy in her life. Mrs. Compton was preceded in death by her loving husband Phillip and her parents, Emerson Arthur and Lucille Stennett Wallenfelsz. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Traci Ann and Frederick "Ricky" Passbach Maier, and their adorable 5-year-old daughter, Camille Rose, all of Choudrant, LA; son, Dr. Phillip Douglas Compton, his wife Stephanie, and their precious children, Sidonia Elizabeth, 17, and Sheldon Joseph, 15, all of Ocean Springs, MS; brother, David Emerson Wallenfelsz and his wife, Edna Smallwood Wallenfelsz, of Tallahassee, FL; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Services will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge, LA, on Saturday, March 23, at 2 p.m., and will be conducted by the Reverend Ron Tyndall of Parkview Baptist Church. Prior to the service, the family will receive visitors at Resthaven beginning at 12 p.m. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers, all members of the Sonshine Sunday School Class, will be Bill Robbins, Gerry Earnest, Gene Gonzales, Darryl LeBlanc, Louis Wolff, and Gene Capeheart.
