COURIER-JOURNAL OBITUARY - 01-23-2015 - Sparks, Keith E. Jr.,84, passed away on Tuesday January 20, 2015 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, KY.He was born on May 9, 1930 in Louisville, KY. He was the son of the late Keith E Sparks, Sr and Hazel Mae Sparks. He married JoAnn Shickinger, also of Louisville, on February 26,1960. He graduated Louisville Male High School in 1948 lettering in Basketball and Baseball. He then served in the United States Air Force for 4 years during the Korean War assigned to the 99th Recon Squadron and awarded the Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. After returning from military service overseas, he completed a BS in Business Administration from the University of Louisville. He was employed by Ford Motor Co. for 31 years and retired in 1988 as General Stores Supervisor. He was a member of the Louisville Male High 50 Year Club. He was an avid golfer and water enthusiast spending over 44 years on Lake Cumberland. Mr. Sparks was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Malcolm S. Sparks. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn Sparks of Nancy; two sons, Kirk ( and Kimberly), Kent (and Michael) and two grandsons, Zachary (and Andrea) and Jacob.A memorial service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville, KY on Monday, January 26, 2015 at 2 p.m. EST with private interment to follow. The family requests in lieu of flowers, please consider a private donation to the Wounded Warrior Project.
