She died right around his birth, late December 1832.
Using that, I found another Nancy McCane who was born in 1818 and died December 27, 1832. She'd was the daughter of a Samuel McCane. He lived from 1791 to 1856. Samuel's wife was a Nancy Heavering 1798 to 1857. So those birth and death years can be true for James's mother's (Nancy) life span.

Nancy McCane:
Cousin, this is Dave McCane from Kentucky.
Samuel and Nancy Heavrin are not Nancy's parents.
Back when I was a teenager(and reconfirmed later), I spent weeks researching in Bracken Co. Sadly, I found that their daughter was Margaret and she married Alfred Fields. They also had a son named Thomas.
Her father, I believe, was the first McCane from our line in Kentucky, Willam (Joseph) who was married to a Mary. I have Nancy being born about 1802 in Kentucky.
