Sybil Christine Allen, 94, passed away Monday, Jan. 19, 2015. Graveside service: 3 p.m. Friday in Moore Memorial Gardens. Sybil was born Oct. 10, 1920, in Gilmer. She worked for Chance Vought Aircraft, LTV and retired in 1986. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church, Arlington; Arlington 249 OES; Arlington Assembly 189 SOOB; Encore Club; Arlington Women's Club; numerous church groups; and the Out and About Club. Sybil was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Sybil was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. Allen; and her parents. Survivors: Brother, Ted R. Langdon; sister, Mattie L. Gunn Malone; son, John R. Allen (Gail); grandson, Jeff Allen; granddaughter, Julie Allen Powers; stepgranddaughters, Laura Reedy and Lisa Marshall; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.
