Cindy spent her childhood years living in various places, including Okinawa, Japan. Cindy’s family eventually moved to Aurora, CO, where Cindy would graduate from Gateway High School.
A church member, who was Hawaiian, taught Cindy to perform Hawaiian dances. This is partly what got Cindy interested in the Hawaiian culture. Hawaiian culture was an interest of Cindy’s throughout the rest of her life.
During high school, Cindy was very active in the theater program. Cindy attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, getting an associate’s degree in Theater. Cindy served an 18 month mission for the Church to Taiwan where she was required to learn Mandarin Chinese. After her mission, Cindy worked full time at Anadarko Petroleum, was an aerobics instructor, and worked as a choreographer for Empire Lyric Players, who put on Gilbert and Sullivan shows. Cindy met her husband Mark Lewis when he graduated from BYU and started attending the Denver Single Adult Ward.
Cindy and Mark were married in the Denver temple June 27, 1987.
On September 13th, 1990, Cindy gave birth to Danielle. Cindy was able to realize her dream to stay home and focus all her attention on raising her daughter. Cindy also worked with the Loveland Music Guild the Loveland Choral Society to continue her theater work. Later, Cindy decided to go back to work to be a fitness coach at Curves.
In February 2011, Cindy was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Cindy’s last few weeks of life were spent under the caring services of the doctors and nurses at Pathways Hospice Center, at McKee Medical Center. Cindy passed away January 15th, 2015. Her last days were filled with friends and family coming to be with her and express their love for her. Danielle and Mark were touched by the outpouring of love for Cindy.
Cindy Ann Weitnauer Lewis lived an amazing live of serving and loving others. She will be missed by many.
A visitation will be held Thursday, January 22nd from 5 – 7 pm at the Allnutt Drake Chapel, Fort Collins. The Funeral Service is Friday, January, 23rd 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1320 W. Harmony Road Fort Collins.
