Robert Basarich, 92, died on May 1, 2009, in Portland, Ore.
He was born in Hibbing on July 12, 1916. He married Helen Njegovan on April 16, 1939, in Chisholm.
Robert lived in Minnesota for many years where he worked in the iron mining industry. After his retirement, he moved to Senior Estates in Woodburn, Ore., where he had lived for the past 27 years.
Robert was a member of the Woodburn Presbyterian Church and the Masonic Order. He enjoyed dancing, bowling, fishing and hunting.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Frances (Rukavina) Basarich, daughter Dessa Louise, brothers Isaac, Michael and Peter and sister Mildred Vukich.
Robert is survived by his wife of 70 years, Helen; daughters Mary Ann (Ray) Vesel, and Roberta J. (Lyle) Adams; brothers Nick and George (Ann) Basarich and sister Helen Sundquist; four grandchildren and six great-granchildren.
Inurnment was at Maple Hill Cemetery in Hibbing
