Eugene Kenneth Burton, 89, of Bayard, passed away on January 16 2015 at Skyview in Bridgeport, NE. His funeral service will be held Jan 24, 2015 at the Bayard Church in Christ. Interment will follow at the Bayard Cemetery. Eugene was born Sept 8, 1925 in rural Bayard, NE to George and Mabel (Kern)Burton. He was raised and educated in Lisco, Broadwater and Bridgeport areas. He graduated from Bayard High School in 1943. He attended Scottsbluff Community College graduating with an Associate Degree in Engineering. He married Juanita Swartz in June 25, 1948 at the First Baptist Church in Bridgeport.Eugene taught at Hillcrest Rural School east of Scottsbluff for 3 years and Minatare elementary for 3 years. In 1954 he moved his family to Lisco and started farming with his father in law. He enjoyed farming and in 1958 bought a farm east of Bayard. He was involved in farming until his death. He was a loving father, grandfather, devoted husband and servant to his church. His grandsons Steve and Chris Burton preceded him in death.
