Martha was born to John and Christina (Vulders) Richard at the family farm in southern Portsmouth Township on March 26, 1915.
Tragedy struck in the winter of 1919-1920 when an influenza epidemic struck the United States. Just a month from her fifth birthday, Martha, as well as several cousins, came down with the dreaded disease. Her's quickly became a severe case of pneumonia and she died within a week of getting sick.
Martha was never forgotten and was forever loved by her large family.

Gravesite Details
Information from Find A Grave contributor Jan Colton stated that the year of birth for Martha according to the death certificate was 1915 rather than 1914 on the stone. I made the change based on this information.
