Mark Hansen - March 6, 1953 - January 17, 2015. Mark Hansen, 61, of Orangevale, CA lost his battle with heart disease Saturday, January 17. Born in San Mateo, CA to Howard and Rae (Proctor) Hansen, Mark was the youngest of four siblings, Michael, Wendy (deceased) and Lynne (deceased). When Mark reached adolescence, his parents moved to family-owned property at Rich Gulch, near Mokelumne Hill, Calaveras County to live a simpler life and escape the perils of 1960's San Francisco. Mark worked summers for his father's concrete construction company in the bay area. He graduated from Calaveras High School in 1971 after serving as student body president. He attended San Mateo College and American River College. Mark joined the family business after his father retired and his brother took over. He oversaw field operations and participated in the building boom of Silicon Valley and surrounding areas. In 1981 he met the love of his life, Julie Jackson. They wed a year later at their home in Felton, CA. Together they raised three daughters and a son. In 1989 they relocated to Orangevale to start their own business. Mark managed a highly -talented loyal crew on many local landmarks including the Federal Courthouse in Downtown Sacramento, the "Money Store" in West Sacramento and more. His crowning achievement was the design and construction of his own backyard where he liked to host barbecues and parties. Mark shared a passion for Porsche 356s with many friends he met in the 356CAR Club of northern California. He enjoyed boating, spending most summers on the Delta as a child and later at Lake Tahoe with loved ones. Other favorite respites for Mark were Bodega Bay, San Francisco, Mexico and Stewart's Lodge in British Columbia. An eternal optimist with a generous spirit and kind heart, Mark was happiest at home with his family and canine companions Gus, Scout and Ranger. Mark is survived by his adoring wife Julie, daughters Melissa Williams, Jessica Gauger, Kirsten and son Spencer, sons in law, Tyler Williams and Joshua Gauger, grandson Howard Williams, brother Michael Hansen and wife Linda, and many wonderful nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters in-law, friends, colleagues, and neighbors.
