Elizabeth Marie Upshaw Garrison, age 83, of Rome passed away Sunday, January 18, 2015 at her residence.
A native of Floyd County, Mrs. Garrison was born April 2, 1931 daughter of the late Beatrice M. Cox Upshaw and Robert Wilson Upshaw. She was a graduate of Rome High School and was employed for 35 years as office manager with the Elliott Sales Company and also was bookkeeper for J & J Safety. Mrs. Garrison loved to travel and functioned as the “travel agent” for Elliott Sales for many years. Some of her favorite trips were the Carter Presidential Inauguration and Inaaugural Balls, Hawaii, and cruises to Puerto Rico and Montego Bay. Mrs. Garrison was married for 53 years to her very loving and supportive husband Ronnie Garrison, and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her brother Robert Upshaw and son Michael Warren.
Survivors include her husband Ronnie Garrison; three children Sylvia Rucker, Debbie (Paul) Huggins, and Bobby Garrison; grandchildren Tamara Warren, Drew Warren, Lindsey Lynch, Tyler Garrison, Zack Rucker, and Bradley Garrison. Several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and her faithful terrier “Molly” also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday January 21, 2015 at 2 P.M. in the Chapel of Parnick Jennings Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 2750 Shorter Avenue with Reverend Paul Lynch officiating. Entombment will follow in the Oaknoll Mausoleum.
