Suffering a paralytic stroke 3 weeks ago, Mrs. Mary Smith Kelley, 71, widow of Isaac Kelley and native of Warren Township died Sunday at 6 pm at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Raher, 229 North High Street.
A resident of Jefferson County practically all of her life, Mrs. Kelley was born in Warren Township on Feb. 24, 1862, the daughter of the late Thomas and Nancy Smith.
She was married to Isaac Kelley in Cadiz in 1878, the couple moving a short time later to Smithfield.
Mrs. Kelley came to this city last June to make her home with her daughter.
She was a member of the Smithfield Christian Church and Rev. R. W. Lilley of the First Christian Church will officiate at the funeral services, Wednesday at 2 pm at the late home on High Street.
The body will be interred at Smithfield.
Mrs. Kelley is survived by 5 daughters, Mrs. Elsie Crothers of Cadiz; Mrs. Mary Crothers of Grove Valley; Mrs. Julia Oxley of Dillonvale; Mrs. Margaret Elliot of Smithfield, and Mrs. Martha Raber of this city and 1 son Isaac Kelley of Smithfield. Two daughters preceded her in death.
Four sisters, Mrs. George Merryman and Mrs. Bertha Case of Adena; Mrs. Jesse Kelley of Unionvale and Mrs. Clark Grimes of Cadiz; a brother Andrew Smith of Adena, 26 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren are living.
