Robert John Currier "Bob" of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away surrounded by family, on August 16, 2012 at the Grand Island Veterans' Home after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Robert was born in Jay, Maine on February 1, 1947 to Eileen (Meader) Currier and John "Jack" Currier. He was highly decorated, serving 27 years in the Navy, including three tours of duty in Vietnam, retiring in 1993. He is predeceased by his parents of Rock Springs, Wyoming, and his grandparents of Jay. He is survived by his children, Susan Moors of Rumford, Maine, Tammy Currier-Hagood and fiancé Mark Thomas of Deport, Texas, Tanya Wilson and husband Kevin of Bogata, Texas, Alyssa Currier and Travis Currier of Omaha; 8 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; sisters, Cynthia Jackson of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Deborah and husband Phil Buker of Standish, Maine, Susan and husband Bill Pate of Russellville, Arkansas, Nancy and husband Ernie Vonberg of Green River, Wyoming; brothers, Tim and fiancé Francine Phillips of Franklin, Ohio, and Rich of Rock Springs, and many other loving family members.
MEMORIAL SERVICE 1pm, Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Jay Baptist Church, 27 Smith Ave. Jay, Maine. Interment with full military honors 10am, Friday August 31, 2012 at the Maine Veterans' Cemetery 129 Blue Star Ave, Augusta, Maine.
