MEBANE - Mr. Eddie Haywood, 61, passed away in his home on Sunday, April 11, 2010. Mr. Haywood was born in Durham County, N.C., the son of the late Robert Edwin Haywood and Rubye Lee Miller Haywood. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War and was employed by the United States Post Office for 31 years. Eddie was an active member of Northside Christian Church, a big Duke fan, loved fishing, working at Cindy Smith Auction Company, tinkering in his worshop and above all, God and his family. Mr. Haywood is survived by his wife, Debbie Wallace Haywood of Mebane; his daughter, Kerry Haywood Erdesky and husband, Mark, of Greenville, N.C; and his son, Eddie "Bubba" Haywood and wife, Sharon, of Roxboro. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Northside Christian Church with Larry East officiating. Burial will follow at Markham Memorial Gardens in Chapel Hill. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Clements Funeral Home in Durham. The family is being assisted in Durham by Clements Funeral Service, Inc.
