Hugh H Cree, late of Tulon, Ills, known to many of our citizens, died at his home on Thursday last of heart failure, in his 64th year. The greater part of Mr. Cree's life was spent near the place of his birth on Muddy Creek, this county. A wife and one daughter are left to mourn the loss of a kind husband and father. Five brothers and three sisters remain - Joseph of Los Angeles, California; Samuel and Henry of near Tulon, Ills; Allison of Khedive, Pa; and Alex of Waynesburg. The sisters are Mrs. Jane Schroy of Indianapolis, Ills; Mrs. Eliza Schroy of Moorman, Tenn, and Mrs. Catharine Milliken of Khedive, this county. The deceased was a member of the 1st PA Cavalry, which performed some hard service during our Civil War. He has a good record as a soldier; but becoming physically disabled he was discharged in the second year of his service. The death roll of the comrades is swelling rapidly and the time is in the near future when few will be left to tell the story of the great struggle, the result of which saved to posterity the greatest among the nations of the earth.

Two Memorials exist for Hugh Cree: 64574677 and 141579554. We know that his stone at Laurel Point was found in 1935; however there was also a stone erected in Illinois. He had two brothers in Illinois who may have placed this stone. His wife, Mary, is buried in Florida. Upon investigation, Findagrave will not remove one or merge as they reported that "One of these Memorials is a Cenotaph". Since we do not know which memorial contains his body we find it necessary to keep both.
