Annie Ruth "Ann" Jones Goodman, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, 89, died Friday, January 16, 2015, at her residence in Fort Smith.
She was born August 13, 1925, in Mt. Selman, TX, to William Lloyd, Sr., and Nancy Aurelia Jones.

Ann attended Texas State College for Women, majoring in education. After her first year of teaching high school English, she quickly decided that early childhood education was her calling. On July 28, 1951, she married the love of her life, Ted, on the campus of TSCW in the "Little Chapel in the Woods" in Denton, TX. Ann dedicated her life to engaging young children in positive learning experiences as the director of Lilly Day Block Daycare in Dallas, TX, teaching four year olds at the Fort Smith First United Methodist Church Weekday School, Children's Cooking Classes at Westark through the Continuing Education program, and in the many workshops that she provided other education professionals. As a long-time member of the Fort Smith First United Methodist Church, Ann created the "little red" cookbook, "Children's Favorite Recipes," the sale proceeds of which going to mission projects of the church. She served at the district and conference levels of the United Methodist Church, was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Women, taught 1st and 2nd grade Sunday school, Vacation Bible school, and Music Camp for many years.

Ann is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ted; one daughter, Carla Bay of Fort Smith; one son, Trent Goodman of Fort Smith; Four granddaughters, Pamela and husband Thomas Abadie of Monroe, LA; Amy and husband Wesley Fuselier of Lafayette, LA; Paige and husband SSGT. Michael Grindstaff of South Ogden, UT; and Misty Goodman of El Cajon, CA; one brother, John Jones, Sr. of Greenville, TX; six great grandchildren; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, and 3 sisters.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 10:30 am in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church, 200 North 15th Street, Fort Smith, with Rev. Charles Murray and Rev. Claire Caldwell officiating. Burial will be at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith. Services are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home in Fort Smith.

Pallbearers will be Thomas Abadie, grandson, Wesley Fuselier, grandson, Mike Grindstaff, grandson, Fred Williams, Brian Gaines, and Howard Vernon.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kay Jeffrey, Nancy Vernon, and members of the Aldersgate Sunday School Class.
