Jo Ann Hapner, 79, of rural Wabash, Indiana, died at 8:00 a.m., Monday, January 19, 2015 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was born August 31, 1935 in Wabash County to Joseph Stewart and Edith Marie (Endress) Anderson. Jo Ann was a 1953 graduate of Wabash High School, a 1957 graduate of Manchester College, and received her master's degree from Ball State University. She married Russell Wayne Hapner, and he died May 25, 2010. She was a school teacher at Sydney Elementary school and kindergarten through 2nd grade, 31 years at LH Carpenter and West Ward, in Wabash. She is survived by 2 children, Diane Sager of Roann, Indiana, and Joseph Hapner of Wabash, and her sister, Mary Jean Wendel of North Manchester, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents. Graveside services will be at a later date. Arrangements by Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash.
