Wm. J. Raborn Passes Away Here Recently

The death of William Jefferson Raborn occurred December 31 at the home of his son, H. V. Raborn, in Garden City. Funeral services were conducted by Dr. C. Roy Angell, pastor of the First Baptist church, and he was laid to rest in the Magnolia cemetery.

Mr. Raborn was born in Amite county, Miss., February 1, 1852, but the family moved to Louisiana when he was a child, and he resided in the state until the time of his death. Since boyhood he had been a member of the Baptist church, and he was faithful in its duties. He was greatly loved by friends as well as by members of his family.

Mr. Raborn leaves his wife, who was formerly Miss Mollissie Scott Irland; five sons, J. D., H. V. and G. D. Raborn of Baton Rouge and Q. L. and A. B. Raborn of Natalbany, La., four daughters, Mrs. H. G. Carter of Port Arthur, Tex., Mrs. Allie Hughes of Hammond, Mrs. F. B. Carter of Baton Rouge and Mrs. E. J. Crawford of Watson, La. He leaves also two brothers and two sisters.
