She often told us the story of how she and her older brother, jack would pick cotten with my Grandparents. They were very poor. mother loved school and never wanted to stop going. she was the only one of the seven children who graduated from high school in 1945. she was such a strong woman and at the young age of 17 years even went to work in downtown Dallas, TX. her Daddy always made sure she had a ride to her aunt and uncles house who lived in Dallas, tX at the time. She married my Dad on the day the US dropped the bomb on Hiroshima,Japan aug6,1945.
