Gerald E. Hartman, 89, Duncansville, died Monday at his home after an extended illness.
He was born in Gallitzin, son of Gallitzin and Mary (Spearing) Hartman.
He married Sylvia McConnell on Aug. 19, 1950.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters: Doris Burk and Lee Ann Imler; seven grandchildren: Sherri (Tim) Leach, Rhonda (Mark) Shaw, Randy (Joyanne) Burk, Regina Hartman, Jennifer Peach, Brian Tornatore and Stephanie Imler; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Jay T., on April 11, 2012. Gerald was the last surviving member of his immediate family, having been preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Gerald graduated from Gallitzin High School and from lithography school in Baltimore.
He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
He retired after 37 years as a lithographer at Butterick and after 25 years in the accounting department at Quality Corrections and Inspections.
Gerald was of the Methodist faith, and he loved to travel and spend time with his family and continually helping others.
All arrangements are private, and there will be no public viewing.
