Lester Jerle Turner, 61, of Albertson, went to be with his heavenly Father, surrounded by his family, on January 19, 2015.
Jerle was born on December 15, 1953 in Lenoir County to the late Betty Jo Murphy Turner and Lester Turner of Pink Hill. He graduated from South Lenoir High School in 1972 and from Durham Technical Institute in 1975. He was self-employed as an optician for 39 years. Jerle was an active member of Woodland United Methodist Church and community activities.
He leaves behind his wife of 38 years, Gwen Davis Turner; son, Seth Turner and wife Sarah and granddaughter Kyleigh Beth of Chinquapin; daughter, Caitlin Ham and husband, Kyle and granddaughter Scarlett of LaGrange; brothers, Johnnie Turner and wife Sina of Gainesville, GA and Garry Turner and wife Jeannie of Pink Hill; sister, Debbie Stilley of Kinston and friend, Carroll Cottle of Goldsboro.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at Pink Hill Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 with burial following at Oak Ridge Memorial Park in Pink Hill.
