Caitlin Marie Morrison was born on February 26, 1983, to Joyce and Al Morrison.

She lived in Overland Park until moving to Lenexa in 1993 where she attended Mill Creek Elementary, Trailridge Middle and graduated from Shawnee Mission Northwest in 2001. She attended Kansas State University with academic and equestrian team scholarships while majoring in biology. She thoroughly enjoyed participating in the initial years of the equestrian team as a varsity sport, and lettered her second year.

Caitlin moved to Ft. Scott in the fall of 2003 to a house with 40 beautiful acres of trees, gently rolling hills and pastures. This is where she continued collecting her menagerie of animals: horses, dogs, cats. sheep, cows. chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys and one betta fish.

Of course, her beloved horse Bay Berry and her dog Soldier were there with her. She initially worked managing a feed store and then decided to follow her passion of horses. She began her own business of training horses and giving lessons in the spring of 2004 with clients in Louisburg, Cleveland (MO), Gardner, Stanley, Stilwell and Spring Hill. She taught and trained in many disciplines: halter, showmanship, English, Western and racing events, especially barrel racing. Concurrently, she worked at Heartland Behavioral Center in Nevada, Missouri, setting up the horse program for the kids who lived there.

In May 2005, she moved to Coweta, Oklahoma, to pursue her dream job of becoming a professional horse trainer.

As a young girl, Caitlin had repeatedly asked for a horse. Thinking this was a passing fancy, her parents told her she would have to pay for half. So, Caitlin began babysitting for hours on end, saving every penny. Once she had sufficient funds, our family began attending auctions. On Monday, April 1, 1997, the whole family once again attended an auction and Caitlin found "the" horse. As this horse was one of the last to be sold, her mother took her younger sisters home. Her father called around midnight saying they had won the auction. Thus began Caitlin's devoted relationship with her horse, Bay Berry.

She found Soldier at a pet rescue display at a local pet store in 2001 and soon realized an equally tight bond with him.

Caitlin's love of horses was infectious and soon extended to her sisters and thus led to our family's involvement in the Johnson County 4-H Horse Club and the Kansas State Horse Show Circuit (KSHSC) plus our 2000 move to Shawnee so we could have land for our horses. In 4-H, she was
president of our club and was the current co-leader of the youth group within KSHSC. She received numerous horse-related awards including Kansas State Fair Grand Champion Snaffle-Bit Project (2000), Kansas State Fair Grand Champion Halter Horse (2002), both of which were with her horse, Trons Wild Zip, better known as Snoopy. She also received numerous other high-point exhibitor awards in KSHSC. In early 2005, Caitlin joined NBHA-KS02 (barrel racing association) where she and Bay soon won a number of events as well as hearts of other NBHA members.

In Ft. Scott, Caitlin treasured her "second family."
All of her friends there were so special to her and we appreciate the support and care and love they all gave to her.

The evening prior to her car accident was spent with her family at her grandparents house, celebrating her grandfather's 85th birthday and her youngest sister's 16th birthday - we will be eternally grateful for those wonderful hours spent with her.

Caitlin's decision to donate her organs for those in need of transplants will ensure her generosity will continue to touch others even in death.

Caitlin was a unique young woman who gave so much of herself to her family, her friends and her world. She was a gentle soul who simply handled whatever came her way. She had much wisdom to share and we will always miss her loving spirit and beautiful smile.
