Victoria - Richard J. Gerstner Sr., 77, Victoria, died Saturday, June 29, 1996, at Via Christi, Wichita. Mr. Gerstner was born Aug. 24, 1918, at Victoria and was a lifetime area resident.

He was a farmer and worked for Union Pacific Railroad for eight years, Golden Belt Lumber in Victoria, for 13 years, and Fort Hays State University for nine years, retiring in 1983. He then worked for his son at Stop 2 Shop in Ellis and Victoria for 10 years. He was a member of St. Fidelis Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, both of Victoria.

Survivors include his wife, Florence of the home; two sons, Robert of Victoria and Richard Jr. of the home; a sister, Irene VonFeldt of Salina; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Fidelis Catholic Church, the Rev. Frank Grinko officiating. Burial will be in St. Fidelis Cemetery. A vigil service will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary at 8 p.m. at Cline's Mortuary, Victoria. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, 412 Main, Victoria 67671.
