A memorial funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 3, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis, with the Rev. Keith Walder officiating. Burial is at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, East Moline, following services. Sullivan-Phillips Mortuary, East Moline, is handling arrangements.
Carl was born Sept. 11, 1914, in Kinder, La., to Lynn and Lela Hamm Woodard. He married Renee M. Charvet on Nov. 27, 1941, in New Orleans, La.
During World War II, he was a welder in the shipyards, welding on ships and submarines. He was a farmer, raising hops in the Yakima Valley, in Washington State. Carl was a partner of Ries Plumbing and Heating. He worked out of Local 25 at the Nuclear Power Plant. He enjoyed picking strawberries. Carl was a very good father and husband and was very soft spoken.
He is survived by his wife, Renee; sons, William E. (Dee) Woodard, Pitkin, Colo., Lynn (Joann) Woodard, Carbon Cliff, Carl G. (Becki) Woodard, Silvis; daughters, Darlene (John) Charvet, El Cerrito, Calif., JoAnn (Michael) Davis, Silvis; sister, B. Kimbell, DeQuincy, La.; brothers, Gordon (Elizabeth) Woodard, Humble, Texas, Gene (Jodie) Woodard, Glen (Ann) Woodard, both of DeQuincy; brother-in-law, Tom Rasmussen, Silvis; 20 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers and sisters; and daughter, Lucille Rasmussen.
