Flossie M. Lebold 97, formerly of Bolivar, died Friday January 9, 2015 at Park Village Health Care Center in Dover. Born January 17, 1917 in Strasburg, she was a daughter of the late Martin and Louise (Kendall) Shutt. Flossie married Glenn R. Lebold on October 17, 1943 and he preceded her in death on February 9, 1989. She is survived by three daughters Ann (Elden) Adams of Sheffield, Pa, Linda (Robert) Locker of Pickerington and Bonnie (Mark) Westcott of Highland, Ill; grandchildren Whitney (Paul) Aebker, Kelly Locker and Aaron Adams; four step grandchildren Sandy Wine, Patricia (Jon) Ickes, Katey (Nicholas) Touchette and Michelle (Charly) Scott and two step great grandchildren Austin and Armonee. Flossie is also survived by three nieces Arvada Everhart, Judy Hammel, Kathy Burris and nephew Kenny Burris. She was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers Orpha Evans (Edward), Selma Harmon (Walter), Arvada Fowler (Richard), Lula Richard (Edward), Cletus and Harold Shutt (Gertrude). Also preceding her in death were nephews John, Sylvester, Wilson, and Prince Harmon, Robert Everhart, John Hammel, Robert Burris and son Gregory Burris and sons-in-law Bruce Ando and Elden Adams.
Flossie graduated from Strasburg High School in 1934. She was a former employee of the Tuscarawas County Clerk's Office at in New Philadelphia, Westinghouse US Naval Ordnance in Canton and Dover Frozen Foods. She was an active parent, serving in various programs in the Tuscarawas Valley School District. She was a faithful member of St. John United Church of Christ in Bolivar where she served as an adult choir director, Sunday school Chorister, Secretary and President of the Women's Fellowship and served as a church Deacon. Flossie and Glenn farmed for 30 years in Bolivar. She enjoyed cooking, canning and freezing produce, selling sweet corn, sewing, playing cards, sacred music and being together with friends and family.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday January 13, 2015 at 12:00 Noon at the Lebold-Smith Funeral Home in Bolivar. Rev. Melodie Rezac will officiate and burial will follow at Fort Laurens Cemetery in Bolivar. Following services a luncheon reception will be held at St. John United Church of Christ in Bolivar. Friends may call Tuesday from 10:00 AM until time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John United Church of Christ at 409 Park Ave. NE Bolivar, Ohio 44612.
