Alexander was the son of Cecilia Pehrson and Anders Akasson who sometimes went by Poulsen as his father was Ake Palsson aka James "Andrew" Poulson. Alexander's father died 14 Oct 1862.

Obituary - Alexander Hamilton Poulson, 78, well known Mt. Pleasant wool grower died at his home of a heart attack.

He was born on the steamship Alexander Hamilton in New York harbor May 3, 1862, a son of Andrew and Cecilia Pearson Poulson. He was named after the boat.

The family came to Salt Lake City the same year. Then moved to Fairview. In 1876 they moved to Mt. Pleasant, where Mr. Poulson had resided since.

He married Jane Truscott of Mt. Pleasant, July 31, 1886 in Salt Lake City.

Surviving are his widow, two sons, Charles A. and Harold Poulson of Mt. Pleasant; five daughters, Mrs. Milt Chapman and Mrs. Dorothy T. Larsen of Salt Lake City and Mrs. E.H. Clement, Mrs. R. F. Terman and Jane Shirley Poulson of Springville; two half brothers, Andrew and Nephi Romero of Idaho; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
