Pekin Times Newspaper, Wednesday, Jan 9, 1957 - SAN JOSE - William Hayden, 61, a retired farmer who has been in failing health for some time, died at 11 p.m. Tuesday in Hopedale Hospital. His body was taken to the Hallmann Funeral Home, Delavan, where services will be held a 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Dr. Eugene N. Wisely, of Peoria, superintendent of the Peoria Conference of Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill cemetery.
Mr. Hayden was born March 13, 1895, in Berkley, Ky., a son of Green Thomas and Sarah Eligood Hayden. He was married on June 4, 1921 in Normal to Gladys Potts. Mr. Hayden came to the Delavan community in 1913 from Kentucky, moving to a farm near San Jose in 1921. He was a member of the American Legion Post of Delavan.
Surviving are his widow; two sons, James and LeRoy Hayden, both of San Jose; two brothers, Ed Hayden, Delavan; and Jess Hayden, San Jose; three sisters, Mrs Cordia Sons, East Peoria; Mrs. Ada Cowan, Peoria; and Mrs. Elizabeth Stakley, San Jose; and four grandchildren. A son, a daughter, three sisters, four brothers, and one grandson preceded him in death.
