He married to Thelma Hefner on 3 May 1934 at Gilmer County, West Virginia. They made their first home there and in 1940 located to Freemans Creek, West Virginia. They lived here on a farm and he supported his wife and two children working as a construction laborer. She died in 1989 and he married again at Bell County, Texas in 1996. His last known residence was at Harker Heights, Texas.
