Roy Paul Bowers, 53, of Monongahela, died Friday, Dec. 16, 2011, in the Monongahela Valley Hospital. He was born March 1, 1958, in McKeesport, the son of Roy G. Bowers, of Jefferson Hills, and the late Marilyn R. Suty Bowers. Roy was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School. He was well known in our area for his expertise in wood working and carpentry. For several years, he owned and operated Bowers Construction in Monongahela. He also worked in his trade at Leicty Builders in Washington and for Frye Restoration in Monongahela. Most recently, he was employed at the Monongahela Valley Hospital. One of his greatest loves was staying at home and spending time with his family. In his younger years, he enjoyed racing dirt bikes. He liked fishing, camping, vegetable gardening and volunteering his time at the Monongahela Area Historical Society. He is survived by his wife, Susan M. Corbelli Bowers, with whom he celebrated 30 years of marriage on May 30, 2011; daughter, Ashley Bowers and fiance, James Manges II, at home; four brothers and a sister, Carl Bowers, of Elizabeth, Alan and wife, Mitzy Bowers, of Portview, Richard Bowers, of Jefferson Hills, Melissa Bowers, of Glassport, Adam Bowers, of Jefferson Hills; sister-in-law, Margaret "Maggie" and husband, Bart Hill, of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; nieces and nephews, Michael, Kimberly, Justin, Samantha and Tina. Friends will be received on Sunday, Dec. 18, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, Dec. 19, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the FRYE FUNERAL HOME INC., 427 West Main St., Monongahela, where services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 20, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mark Woomer officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Monongahela Historical Society, 230 West Main St., Monongahela, PA 15063.
