Son of Richard Adams 1726-1800 and Elizabeth (Griffin) Adams 1735-1800. Originally Buried at Cemetery located in Richmond at the Northeast Corner of Twenty-third and Marshall Streets. Remains of Richard Adams and other family members were removed and re-interred at Hollywood Cemetery. They family remains are located in a plot with large monument listing family members. Married first Elizabeth Southall Randolph of Chatsworth who was the widow of Peter Skipworth Randolph (no issue)

Married secondly Sarah Travers (Daniel) Hay widow of Charles Hay (US Army) and daughter of Travers Daniel and Frances (Moncure) Daniel.
