Mrs. Genevieve Anderson Lucas, age 61, of Lake City, Florida died Friday, Jan. 16, in the Baptist Medical Center, Jacksonville, Florida following a brief illness.

She was born in the Baxter community of Baker County, Fla. and lived in Sanderson and Macclenny, Fla. before moving to Lake City, Fla. 25 years ago.

She worked for the Baker County School Board as a teacher’s aide for over 25 years before ill health forced her retirement. She was a member of the Welcome Congregational Holiness Church of Lake City, Fla. and enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, church activities and cooking for her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph M. and Mary Williams Anderson, her husband, Larry Lucas, three silbings, Edward Anderson, Esther Mae Griffis and Lavonne Broomfield.

She is survived by her two sons, Zary (Jeannie) Alford of Glen St. Mary, Fla. and Rev. Timothy (Maria) Alford of Sanderson, Fla.: Two step-children, Tracey (Tim) Duckett and Timmy (Lorie) Lucas both of Lake City, Fla.: Four siblings, Rev. Johnnie Wayne (Ruby) Anderson, Rev. Clyde (Mary Lou) Anderson and Michael (Sherrie) Anderson all of Macclenny, Fla. and Cleo (Sammy) O’Steen of Mayo, Fla.: Brother-in-law, Tony Broomfield of Jacksonville, Fla.: Eight grandchildren, Lonnie Alford, Tiffany Alford, Jamie Nieman, Chelzie Alford, Joseph Alford, Zachary Alford, Timbra Alford and Breanna Alford: Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Tuesday, Jan. 20, in the Sanderson Congregational Holiness Church, Sanderson, Fla. with Rev. Lance Crews, Pastor of the Welcome Congregational Holiness Church, officiating and assisted by Rev. Justin Griffis, Director of Christian Education at Sanderson Congregational Holiness Church. Interment will be in Taylor Cemetery, Taylor, Florida. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 P.M. Monday, Jan. 19, at Sanderson Congregational Holiness Church. GUERRY FUNEAL HOME, 420 East Macclenny Avenue, U.S. 90 East, Macclenny, Florida is in charge of arrangements.
