On March 18, 1923, he was united in marriage to Wavie Bauer at Sibley, Iowa. To this union, two sons were born, Robert and John, both of Camarillo, California. He spent many years farming in the vicinity of Sanborn and Hartley. About seventeen years ago, he retired from farming and moved to Hartley, where he was a member of the Hartley Methodist Church.
After an illness for some time, he was hospitalized at Davenport, Iowa for two weeks. He submitted to surgery July 15th and passed away on July 18 at the age of 64 years, 7 months, and 10 days.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
He leaves to mourn, his wife, Wavie, two sons, Robert E. and John B. Jocuhms, both of Camarillo, California; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Stephen S. Jochums of Berkeley, California and Richard M. Jochums of Lafayette, California, other relatives and a great many friends.
Last rites were held on August 2 at the Methodist church with Rev. Keith Scott officiating.
He is at rest in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Hartley, Iowa. Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
