Gerald D. “Jerry” Perkins, 64, of South Bend died Saturday January 3, 2015 following an illness in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center Mishawaka. Jerry was born January 9, 1950 in Benton Harbor, MI to the late Clyde and Georgia (Pilent) Perkins. He was also preceded in death by a brother Tom Perkins. On July 7, 2000 in Frederick, Maryland he married the former Paula Daniels who survives to cherish his memory along with daughters Sandra Perkins in New York, Maggie Bueno (Richie) of South Bend and his son Robert Perkins (Martha) of Indianapolis, IN. 4 grandchildren James Curti; Jakob; Ava; Richard, Jr.


Jerry has 3 siblings who survive Orvin Perkins (Judy) of White Pigeon, MI, Don Perkins of Valdosta, FL, Mark Perkins (Cheryl) of South Bend.

Jerry graduated from LaSalle High School and was active in the AA groups around the South Bend area. In 2005 he was the recipient of a Liver transplant. As his wishes his body was donated to Indiana University Medical Center for research. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. The Welsheimer Family Funeral Home assisted the family with his final arrangements.
