Clarke Cannon Jenkins, 81, former resident of Grace, Idaho, passed away May 10, 2004 in Tempe, Arizona.

Clarke was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge and carried shrapnel in his body the rest of his life.

He graduated from Utah State University after the war. He then taught school in Riverside, CA, first as a teacher and then as an administrator. He had a great love for horses so he moved to Mesa, AZ, where he could have land and space to develop a stable of quarter horses. He named his ranch the Double C. Clarke at one time owned 139 quarter horses and raced them throughout the West.

He resided in Mesa and owned a tire shop in Tempe where he also sold supplies for horses and horse trailers. He lived for 46 years in Mesa and Tempe, AZ.

He was buried in Newton, Utah next to his father, Lorran A. Jenkins, his mother, Margaret May Johnson Jenkins, his brothers, Clyde, Elden and Cyril and his sister, Afton.

He is survived by his sister, Veda Pedrazzini of Geneva, Switzerland and a brother, John B. Jenkins of Garden Grove, CA and Grace, ID.
