Matthew retired from Caterpillar in 1999 after 31-1/2 years of faithful and dedicated service.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Matthew Sr. and Vider (Carr) Hamilton; brothers, Charles D. and J.W. Hamilton.
Matthew is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Gerry; his children, Erica Hamilton (Brian), Eric and Brian (Michelle) Hamilton, stepchildren, Barbara (Eric) Stokes, Charles Davis, Jr., Jeffery (Cheryl) Blakney, Janette Turner (Cedric); grandchildren, Brandon, Eric, Aerianna, Morgan, Myron Jr., T’ea, Jade, Kollen, Amber and E.J.; one great grandchild, My’onni Jenae Washington; brothers, Billy, C . (Earnestine), Elbert (Jeanette), Alex (Anna V.), and William (Ella) Hamilton; sisters, Annie (Armour, deceased) Wood, Betty (Aaron) Booker, Shirley (Clemon) Breath, and Geneva (Carl) Breath, his aunt, Maude Carr, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 19, 2015 from 4:00-6:00 PM at the funeral home and Tuesday, January 20, 2015 10:00-11:00 AM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 402 Singleton Pl., Joliet, IL. Service at 11:00 AM, Pastor David G. Latimore, officiating.
Interment following at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
