Mrs. Reed was educated in the public schools of Richland County, graduating from W.J. Keenan High School in 1979. She was employed with Shaw Industries (Honeywell), with twenty-five years of service.
Mrs. Reed was a member of Jehovah Baptist Church where she served as a member of the Musical Choir. She had a love for gospel singing. Cathy sang with various gospel groups such as the The Inspirational Singers, The Satisfied Gospel Singers and The Singing Angels.
Mrs. Cathy Detra Reed leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of twenty-nine years, Mr. Floyd Reed; her parents, Nathaniel and Melvina Moyd; five brothers: Nathaniel Moyd, Jr., Glenwood (Mattie) Moyd, Vernon Moyd, Stephone (Cindy) Moyd and Vincent (Harriet) Moyd, all of Columbia, South Carolina; three sisters: Gardenia (Keith) Thompson, Linda Moyd and Cassandra (Samuel) Moody, all of Columbia, South Carolina; her father- and mother-in-law, Willie James and Doretha Reed, Jr.; brothers-in-law, Benjamin (Carolyn) Reed and Leroy (Marianne) Reed; sisters-in-law, Debbie (Willie) Javis and Christine Reed; aunts: Collette Lennon, Pauline (Freddie) Johnson, Ella Jane Rogers and Emma Lee Randall; one uncle, Daniel Cooper; godchildren: Gerard Sr., Gerard Jr., Jeremiah, Kierra and Anita Aiken; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and dear friends.
