CUMBERLAND, MD~~~Edward Jennings Beery, 80, of Cumberland, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2015 at his residence.
Born June 14, 1934, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late Jennings Walker Beery and Helen (Wagoner) Beery.
Ed was retired from the maintenance department at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland.
He was a 1954 graduate of Fort Hill High School and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He also belonged to several square dancing organizations, the American Legion Post 0024, and the Frostburg VFW. Surviving are his sons, Wallace “Wally” J. Beery and wife Rose, Frostburg, and Wayne A. Beery and wife Susan, Gore, Va.; two granddaughters, Bryana and Allison Beery; two sisters, Sandra Householder and husband Truman, Cumberland, and Linda Burton and husband John, St. Augustine, FL; two great-grandchildren, William and Ernie; one step-grandson, John Green and wife Brenda, Frostburg; one step-daughter, Shirley Raleigh and husband Walter, Frostburg; two step-great-granddaughters, Samantha Green and Krystal Tasker; and special friend and caregiver, Vivian Dawson.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Ave., Cumberland, on Sunday, January 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday, January 19, at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Richard Jewell officiating.
Military Honors will be accorded by the combined local military honor guard.
Interment will be in Fort Ashby Cemetery.
