Services Held for Jennie Vander Gaast

Funeral services for Jennie Vander Gaast were held at the Everly United Methodist Church Wednesday morning, August 30. Clergyman was Rev. Allen Wiese, and burial was at the Pleasant View Cemetery at Hartley. The Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Jennie Vander Gaast, the daughter of Willem and Bendine From Veldkamp, was born May 7, 1907 in Friesland, Holland. She was educated in Holland and married Jim Vander Gaast in 1932.

They came to the United States in 1948 to Harris, Iowa. They moved to Adrian, Minnesota in 1950 and since 1951 had made their home in Everly, Iowa. She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Everly and the Women's Society.

She passed away at the hospital in Hartley on August 17, 1986, at the age of 79. Preceding her in death were her parents, three sisters, and three brothers.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jim; two sons and their wives, Henry and Severa of Ames and Bill and Terrilyn of Everly; two daughters and their husbands, Bernadine Fick and Mike Amosson of Centerville, and Jeanette and Ronald Arms of Camanche; fifteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Antje Hofstra of Oosterwolde, Friesland, Holland; other relatives and many friends.
