She graduated from Seaman High School in 1963 and attended Washburn University.
She married Dale Marshall October 16, 1965 in Topeka.
Janice worked for the City of Topeka Parks and Recreation preschool program, Creative Play and later for Shawnee County as a Preschool director/teacher of Creative Learning. She was an active member of the Northland Christian Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years.
She was preceded in death by her father and a brother in law, W.D. “Buck” Hartner III.
She is survived by her husband of over 49 years; her mother, Ruth Dodge of Topeka; two daughters, Melissa (Tim) Shultz of Topeka and Anissa (Joey) Selbach of Topeka; a brother, Andy (Tammy) Dodge of Ozawkie; a sister, Joyce Hartner of Topeka and five grandchildren, Emma Shultz, Ethan Shultz, Cameron Selbach, Kendall Selbach and Karigan Selbach.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Northland Christian Church. She will lie in state Monday from noon – 8:00 p.m. with visitation from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home. Interment will be at the Half Day Cemetery in Elmont. Memorial contributions can be made to the Northland Christian Church Memorial Fund or Midland Hospice Care and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home.
