Jimmy, his older sister Megan, and his mother Alison were riding in their Honda Pilot, driven by his father Brett, Frankford on their way to Georgetown. They were going westbound Daisey Street. As Brett approached the intersection of Daisey St. and US 113, he failed to stop at the stop sign and was hit driver's side by a northbound Volvo tractor trailer. Jimmy, Brett, and Alison were killed immediately. Megan was flown to Christiana Hospital where she survived with minor injuries.

Patricia Alison Malcolm-Pierce, age 50, Brett Maxime Pierce, age 46, and James Malcolm Pierce, age 12, of Wilmington, DE passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 3 in Frankford, DE.

Alison graduated from Concord High School where she swam and was very involved in pep club. She received her B.A. in Criminal Justice from the University of Delaware. After graduation she worked in banking for over 10 years before becoming a full time mother and homemaker. She was a devoted daughter, wife, sister, and mother. She was a volunteer extraordinaire, involved in the PTA, swim team and club, baseball team mom, and a girl-scout leader.

Brett graduated from Brandywine High School and received his BS in Computer Science from the University of Delaware. He was an Information Technology Manager at Wawa, Inc. Brett was a devoted son, husband, brother and father, always willing to take on any project to help others. He was very active in Naamans' Little League where he was an assistant coach and umpire. He enjoyed gardening and was an avid sports fan.

Brett and Alison met in July 1988 through Ulster Project Delaware. They were married in Wilmington on September 22, 1990 in the Presbyterian Church of the Covenant. Their daughter Megan was born in October 1992 followed by their son Jimmy in October 1996.

Jimmy had begun the 7th grade at Springer Middle School. He enjoyed playing all sports, but especially excelled at hockey and baseball. At Naamans' Little League he made a name for himself as a solid pitcher and first baseman. He loved to fish and be outdoors. He had an infectious smile and was truly a cool kid. Jimmy was a fun-loving grandson, son, brother, and cousin, always organizing sports, card and board games or telling jokes and playing practical ones.

They were predeceased by Alison's mother, Patricia Burdumy, and Brett's brother Patrick Allen Pierce.

They are survived by their daughter and sister Margaret Alison (Megan) Pierce of Wilmington. They are also survived by Alison's parents James Allison and Lois Ashwill Malcolm of Indiantown, FL, Alison's sisters Janet Ashwill James of Wilmington, and Amy Davis and her husband Tim of New Castle, and her brother Mark Ashwill and his wife Hang of Hanoi, Vietnam, and Mark's daughter Katie Ashwill of Williamsville, NY. They are also survived by Brett's parents Edmund George and Margaret Virginia Pierce of Wilmington, sister Susan M. Pierce and her husband Jim Matlack and daughter Alexa, sister Sharyn Pierce Hunt and her husband Stan, and children Rebecca and Kevin, brother Edmund G. Pierce and his wife Deborah, and children Charles, Greg, Amanda, Chad, Brian and Shannon, brother Torrence M. Pierce and his wife Eileen and children Benjamin, Patrick and Samuel, and sister Jennifer L. Pierce and her husband Pete Wolf, and children Pierce and Sara.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, October 10 at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 7 Sharpley Road, Wilmington. Friends and family may visit from 1-8pm, Friday, October 9 at the MCCRERY MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 3924 Concord Pike, Talleyvlle (Route 202, south of Silverside Rd.) where additional, overflow parking is available in the Brandywine YMCA rear parking lot, 3 Mt. Lebanon Rd. and also the parking lot of Naamans Little League baseball field, on Mt. Lebanon Rd. (across from the Brandywine YMCA). Burial will be private.
