James R. Brooks, 84, of Springfield passed away Thursday morning, January 15, 2015 at Springfield Regional Medical Center. He was born March 28, 1930 in Springfield, the son of the late Rev. Clifford and Oma (Clark) Brooks.

Jim was very proud of his beloved family and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Gwen Brooks; three daughters, Deborah (Butch) Myers of Springfield, Vickie (Tom) Enciso of Kettering and Lorinda (Tom) Ording of New Palestine, Indiana; four grandchildren, Heidi (Jeff) Minton, Wes (Sarrah) Myers, Lea (Stephen) Wagner and Lindsey Enciso; four great-grandchildren, Blake, Paige, Cameron and Luke and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, January 19, 2015 from 11 am to 1 pm in Urbana Church of Christ in Christian Union, 1121 N. Main St., Urbana, Ohio.

Funeral services will begin at 1 pm in the church with Dr. David VanHoose officiating.

Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Community Mercy Hospice.
