OLDEST RESIDENT DIES; SERVICES WILL BE SATURDAY

William Clarence ANDERSON, 91, Mount Pleasant's oldest man resident, died September 22, 1965, in the local nursing home of causes incident to age.

Funeral Services will be held in the Second-Third Ward Chapel Saturday at 1:00 p.m. under direction of Bishop Glen Hardy. Friends may call at the Ursenbach Funeral Home Friday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to time of Services. The burial will be in Mount Pleasant City Cemetery.

Mr. Anderson was born in Mount Pleasant March 17, 1874, a son of Claus and Hannah Jensen ANDERSON, pioneers of 1867.

He attended local grade schools and also the Presbyterian Mission School now known as Wasatch Academy until he was 16 years old. He worked in the mining camps for many years and was a well-known musician, was a member of the old Mercer Band of Park City and the Eureka Band. He enlisted in the Utah Militia Band in Mount Pleasant under Captain Thomas Braby in 1894 as a trumpeter. Of the original 46 members of this band only one is now living.

He was employed by Mount Pleasant City in the electric light department, working as a lineman and was power plant operator under five administrations.

Since his retirement he has worked at many hobbies including tying fishing flies, made lamps of native wood, did leather work and enjoyed composing poetry.

He married Bertha E. YOUNG of Mount Pleasant November 07, 1898. They were the parents of five children.

Surviving are his widow and four sons and daughters, Mrs. Nathella A. HUGHES, Melba, Idaho; Donald E. ANDERSON, Mount Pleasant; Mrs. Doretha A. SIMMONS, Salt Lake City, and Clarence W. ANDERSON, Los Angeles; ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Hazel LUNDBERG, Mackey, Idaho.
