Services for Julie Yager Wheat, 76, Fairway Drive, will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at the South Frankfort Presbyterian Church, 224 Steele Street.
She died Wednesday, November 8, at Bradford Square Nursing Home following a long illness. Burial will be at Frankfort Cemetery.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was born in Ashland, KY, but made her home in Frankfort. She was a graduate of Frankfort High School and the University of Kentucky where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She was a member of South Presbyterian Church. She was involved in the Democratic Women's Club of Franklin County and the Democratic Party of Kentucky. She worked in both administrations of Wendell H. Ford and Martha Layne Collins. She also worked as an assistant clerk in the House of Representatives. She was active with the Bosom Buddies Breast Cancer Group in Shelbyville.
Survivors include her husband, Earl Thomas Wheat, two daughters, Margaret MacDonald (Richard) Frankfort, and Melinda Riedel (William), Bowling Green. Four Grandchildren, Julie MacDonald Muravchick (Brandon), Ann MacDonald, Stephanie Riedel, and Stephen Riedel; two sisters Margaret Clark (Andy), Louisville, and Middie Thompson (Tommy), Huntsville, Alabama.
She was the daughter of the late J. Sneed and Helen Arthur Yager. The Rev. Alan Sorem will officiate.
Bearers will be Richard MacDonald, William Riedel, Stephen Riedel, Brandon Muravchick, Roger Smith, Jeff MacDonald, Jonathan MacDonald and Bob Stewart.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Rogers Funeral Home.
