Edna Mae Geurin Duncan, 89, of Cartersville passed away peacefully on January 15, 2015 at Hospice of Atlanta. She was born in Cherokee County to the union of the late Sara Lewis Geurin and John Astor Geurin. Also preceding her in death were a sister, Ruth Geurin Fox and a brother, John Astor Geurin and her husband, James A. Duncan.

Survivors include one daughter, Judi Oakley and husband, Sid, a neice Debbie Geurin and nephews Gary Fox and Richard Fox along with several great nieces and nephews plus a host of friends.

Ms. Duncan retired from the Bartow County Health Department where she worked for 48 years. To know Edna was to have a true, genuine and loyal friend. She was enthusiastic, dependable, and one who loved life and serving other. Her family and friends were very important to her. Her giving spirit, humility, wisdom, and words of encouragement brightened the day for many people. She enjoyed gardening and loved to "till the soil." She participated in senior events at the Bartow Senior Center and was a member of the Red Hat Society. In addition to her great love for people she loved animals, especially dogs and one in particular named Bristol Oakley.

She was the oldest member of the Cassville United Methodist Church and served well in many roles including being a Sunday School teacher.

Visitation for Ms. Duncan will be at 1: 00 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, with her Celebration of Life Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Owen Funeral Home. Officiating clergymen will be The Reverend Mary Erickson and Reverend Gary Eastridge. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Gary Fox, Richard Fox, Lowell Croft, Ronnie Nix, Tommy Gentry and Tony Meadows.
