Mr. Fred M. “Steve” Stephens, 83, a resident of Copiah County, passed away January 15, 2015 at Covington County Hospital in Collins, MS. He was born May 22, 1931 in Arcola, MS, the son of Steve Stephens and Jane McDunnough Stephens.

Mr. Stephens is a veteran of the US Marine Corps.; a retired boat captain and diesel mechanic for Penrod Drilling Co.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his son, Les Stephens; his two brothers, Jimpy Stephens and Robert Stephens; and his sister, Betty Rose.

Mr. Stephens is survived by his wife, Helen Mozelle Stephens of Wesson; two daughters, Laura Carr and husband Ralph of Wesson; and Monique Wagner and husband John of Woodville, MS; two sons, Joe Joseph and wife Candie of Thibodeaux, LA; and Danny Joseph of Covington, LA; three sisters, Sue Kohanski, Sissy Rozier, and Nancy Gordon; two brothers, Eugene Stephens and Bill Stephens; eight grandchildren, Devin, Courtney, Brandy, Candice, Michael, Niki, Joe Joe, and Jessie; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at a later date at Pearl Valley Baptist Church with burial at Lowe cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive, Brookhaven, MS.
