Stanley M. Irons, 95, of Oregon, OH, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2003, in his residence. Stan was born on July 4, 1908 in Port Allegheny, PA to A.G. and Isie (Sherwood) Irons. He was employed by Toledo City Schools and taught at Macomber High School until retirement. Stan also was a flight instructor and mechanic for 73 years working out of Metcalf Field. He was a 51 year member of Kane, PA Lodge #566, honorary member of Yondota Lodge, member of the Aeronautical Shriners, Old Pilots Association of Northwest Ohio, Pioneer Aviators OX5, Aircraft Owners Pilots Association, National Association of Flight Instructors, Blue Horizon Flying Club, International Flying Farmers, Quiet Birdsmen, National Rifle Association, Ohio Retired Teachers Association and an Amateur Radio operator (WB8VUB).
Surviving are his son, Stanley M. (Patricia) Irons II of Luckey, OH; daughter, Linda L. Morrison of Piggott, AR; grandchildren, Kevin (Karen) Irons, Angela (Kevin) Lambert, Michael Irons, Kelley Grammer, Scott Foy, Andy (Jackie) Morrison and Many (Shea) Siddell and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude; parents; one sister and three brothers.
Family and friends may call at the Eggleston-Meinert-Pavley Funeral Home, Coy Road Chapel on Wednesday, October 29, 2003 from 2-9 pm where funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday. Interment will follow in Lake Township Cemetery. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or charity of the donors choice. Special thanks to the Doctors, Nurses and staff of St. Charles Mercy Hospital and Mercy Home Care along with numerous friends for all their concern and loving care.
