A home going celebration for Mrs. Katherine A. Carey, 96, of Tampa, will be held on Saturday, Jan. 17, at 11 am, at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 3005 East Ellicott Street, Tampa FL 33605 with Pastor; Rev. Dr. T. W. Jenkins the Officiating Eulogist. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery. Born Feb. 11, 1918 in Monticello, FL, to Annie Mae Ammons and Joe Hines and passed away on Jan. 7, 2015 in Tampa. She was married to Mose Carey Sr., who preceded her in death. Preceded in death by mother, father, sister; brother; and granddaughter. She is survived by her daughters, Annie M. Carey, Darlene A. Matthews (Jeffrey); sons, Edward L. Carey and Mose (Moses) Carey, Jr. (Peggy); grands, Shari Blair, Katrena Stodghill (Henry), Valerie Carey, Philip Carey, Anndrea Carey-Baskett (Sean), Kenya Scott, Jasmin Carey and Terrone Finley; step grands; great-grands; nieces; nephews; host of relatives and friends who shared her love and friendship for almost 97 years. A visitation will be held on Friday, Jan. 16, from 5-9 pm, at Wilson Funeral Home, 3000 N. 29th Street, Tampa, FL 33605. Friends are asked to assemble at the church on Saturday at approximately 10:45 am for the service.
